Shopify Plus

Shopify Plus is one of Shopify’s plans for ecommerce businesses. At the top of the list for Shopify plans, both in cost and features, Shopify Plus is a powerhouse for streamlining business processes and fueling growth.

This version of Shopify is intended for high-volume ecommerce businesses and enterprise-level organizations, such as Pepsi, Nestle, and Unilever. If you’re not quite there yet, Shopify Plus may be overkill for your business.

What is Shopify Plus?

Designed for growth and volume, Shopify Plus is a fully hosted, scalable SaaS ecommerce platform that includes every feature Shopify offers (plus some exclusive extras) that help businesses control operations and scale successfully.

For example, Shopify Plus supports thousands of transactions each minute, keeping it up and running during big sales periods. There’s also no limit on volume, products, storage, and bandwidth.

Shopify Plus Key Capabilities and Features

Launchpad

Launchpad is a tool to set up and track automated events like product launches, product restocks, and sales or promotions. With this feature, you can choose a time and date to adjust product pricing, publish products on different sales channels, or automatically trigger different promotions.

Shopify Flow

Shopify Flow is an incredible automation tool that allows you to automate mundane tasks on the backend. You can track workflows at a glance, analyze which tasks didn’t provide optimal results, and filter workflows based on their current status.

This feature also allows for triggered actions when an order is detected, so you can segment customers by behaviors and create campaigns that suit different customers.

Script Editor Access

Shopify scripts have tons of personalization options for the checkout process, which is a significant part of the customer and user experience (UX). Scripts allow you to tailor different aspects of the checkout, such as BOGO promotions, percentage-based discounts, volume-based discounts, dynamic pricing, and other types of promotions. These can be run either in the online store, private apps, or both.

Shopify Organization Admin

The Shopify Organization Admin is similar to standard Shopify Admin, but enhanced to allow management of multiple stores in bulk. Each store is operated on an organizational level, rather than individually, so large businesses can handle multiple brands or store variants for different countries.

For full management capabilities, Shopify Organization Admin offers everything from Shopify Flow to analytics overview to store management. You can perform tasks like adding new user options, managing the sales and orders for each store or on the organizational level, and more.

Multi-Channel Integration

Shopify Plus includes a variety of options for increasing sales, such as 20 channels to sell online on different platforms. You can set up sales through Amazon, social media, messaging, and online marketplaces.

It also supports these channels with integrated payment gateways, such as PayPal, Google Pay, and Apple Pay, which helps customers feel more comfortable shopping at your store with payment protection.

Wholesale Channel

For B2B businesses, Shopify Plus offers a gated wholesale store that’s managed by the same platform. Instead of managing and scaling operations for the B2C and B2B aspects of your business, you can handle everything from the same account with multiple storefronts. Plenty of features enhance your B2B capabilities as well, such as password protection for wholesale customers, exclusive products, and discounts triggered by certain checkout totals or unit numbers.

How Much is Shopify Plus?

As mentioned, Shopify Plus is more expensive than the other Shopify plans, thanks to all these features. Here’s a breakdown:

  • Shopify Lite: $9 monthly and suitable for a website that sells products and takes credit cards.
  • Shopify Basic: $29 monthly and provides features for small businesses.
  • Shopify: $79 monthly and ideal for growing businesses.
  • Shopify Advanced: $299 monthly and includes up to 15 staff accounts, eight locations, and five languages.
  • Shopify Plus: Variable, but starts at $2,000 per month. You must request a specific quote from Shopify. This cost comes with the aforementioned advanced features, improved performance, and better administrative capabilities. It also has lower fees on transactions compared to the other plans.

Shopify Plus is a big investment, but it comes with features that save time and are promised to increase conversion rates up to 18 percent and checkout rates to 60 percent. Factors that increase the cost may include development tools, international store apps, and transaction fees.

Shopify Plus Pros and Cons

Shopify Plus has a lot of benefits, including reduced hosting, upgraded, security patches, maintenance, headless commerce capabilities, and point release overheads. It supports large businesses with unlimited bandwidth and online storage.

Automation tools help with time-consuming and mundane tasks to free your time for more creative business pursuits. There are also numerous customization tools and integrations to enhance your storefront and provide a personalized customer experience.

Still, Shopify Plus isn’t without its limitations. You must have some technical knowledge to manage your store using Shopify Plus, and it doesn’t have the complex multi-store architecture of some of its competitors. You also have limitations on content management and the types of products you can sell with Shopify Payments.

Is It Time to Upgrade?

Shopify Plus is the top-tier plan, but Shopify has several plans to suit businesses at different growth stages. Of the remaining plans, Shopify Advanced is the highest.

This plan has a lot to like, such as 15 staff accounts and advanced features to operate and customize your store. If you need more staff accounts, a setup for international sales and marketing, an integrated B2B channel, or better support during high-volume sales period, Shopify Plus may be the best choice.

Here are some things to consider:

  • Do you need more store variants? Shopify Plus offers 10
  • Do you want customized store variants with individual languages and marketing campaigns?
  • Do you want to expand into wholesale?
  • Do you want automation for mundane tasks that bog down your team?
  • Do you want to create triggers for promotions and discounts, payments, and other features to enhance growth?
  • Do you need more than 15 staff accounts?

If so, Shopify Plus has everything you need. Even if you only require one of these additional features, such as more staff accounts or international sales capabilities, it’s likely worth the upgrade to Shopify Plus or hiring a Shopify Plus Agency.

Make the Switch

Shopify Plus has so many advantages for your business, but it’s not without investment. Be sure your business is ready to scale and looking for enhanced capability before you upgrade to Shopify Plus.
